World Wellbeing Week run with Martin Smithurst

What better way to celebrate #worldwellbeingweek than with a scenic run around the delightful ducal setting of Clumber Park!

Thanks to Martin Smithurst, Chief Operating Officer at Engie Places & Communities for the post-work run and chat. With Martin having just competed in a triathlon at the weekend and myself warming up for my first race in 15 months it made for an ideal opportunity to talk tactics, on a leisurely half hour canter.

Martin and I have known each other for well over a decade and in that time have caught up in various locations, typically offices, some more salubrious than others! Refreshing then to get together in the great outdoors and share stories of sporting endeavours and not too distant past glories. I'm sure there's plenty of future ones to enjoy too!

At a time when life is returning back to some sort of normality we discussed the changes business leaders and businesses can adopt in the long term to satisfy the needs of their staff, supply chain and, of course, themselves.

Whatever work routine we've adapted to during the last 15 months, being active, through sport and fitness, has been hugely important in providing a welcome release or allowing us all to achieve a balance and perspective. Long may that focus on health and wellbeing continue.
