10 mile tour of the Hope Valley with Darryl Watton

Continuing my unplanned tour of National Trust locations saw me catch up with Darryl Watton for a 10 miler in the Peak District.

I'll need to draft in the "quad-squad" for repairs but it was worth every step.

This guy loves to run, has a serious level of enthusiasm for all things fitness, resilience and exploration, and a track record to boot.

Time to leave behind the tarmac and take in the spectacular scenery of the Hope Valley including Froggatt Edge, overlooking Chatsworth in the Derbyshire Dales.

If I ever host a podcast for runners within the Built Environment sector (don't worry I won't!) Darryl would be my first guest. His running CV includes conquering the Marathon Des Sables (6 marathons in 6 days), completing the Ultra Trail of Mont Blanc (106 miles in 1 day!) as well as multiple Ironman Triathlons. There are few things more infectious than listening to someone share their passions, experiences and life affirming memories.

Along the way we bumped into a committed bunch of hikers taking part in their Silver Duke of Edinburgh award. Superb to see such spirit amongst them and the vigour of youth channelled to great effect!

Refreshed by my approach to recruitment? Time to Run with Me. πŸ‘πŸΌ
