In nature's office with Martin Edwards

Big thanks to Martin Edwards, Development Director of Countryside East Midlands, for making the time to squeeze a countryside (appropriately enough!) 5k into his day, in-between site visits.

Amongst the scenic delights of Bradgate Park in Leicestershire we witnessed deer, grouse and a couple of old turkeys sweating their way around the idyllic surroundings!

Countryside recently retained their 5* HBF rating and also received a “Gold Award” and “Outstanding Achievement” award for customer satisfaction for 2020. It’s refreshing to hear that placemaking and regeneration is at the forefront of much of the group’s and region’s activity in creating Places People Love.

The East Midlands has gone from strength to strength since the acquisition of Westleigh in 2018 and over the past few years under the stewardship of Glyn Mabey has positioned itself as a leading player in the region.

Martin and I have a shared interest in running, ideally to a beat, even better if it’s Afrobeat and really good to hear that the business has continued to promote health and wellbeing whilst providing support to staff over the past year.

With spring having sprung and the days getting longer there’s no excuse to not get out and indulge in some recreational fitness.

Stay healthy folks.
