Strelley shuffle with Trevor Rockley
Welcome to the weekend!
Here's some high brow content for you - two knackered middle-aged blokes, fresh from chewing the cud and blowing off steam during a high quality, undulating midweek 10k.
If you're ever in need of a top notch tour guide for the Broxtowe area, Trevor Rockley is most definitely your man. π
Big thanks to Trevor for showing me some unique sights in and around the region; from soaking up the history at the Hovis bakery in Watnall, to the former Midland railway line and Great Northern Railway Station in Kimberley and of course Strelley's very own Tiger King, Reece Oliver's lions and wild cats!
Both armed with niggles (excuses) we managed to huff and puff around at a decent pace and shared similar passions (frustrations) about coaching sporting teams; Trevor's son's football team, my son's rugby team. Most of our energy however, was spent on talking up our respective teams chances of success in the Play Offs; shout out to the brilliant efforts so far this season - one last push Nottingham Forest FC and Sheffield Wednesday Football Club. π€πΌ
Away from recruiting in this bonkers market, I'm frantically flicking through marathon training plans and panicking at those sent on by those who are kind enough to think I'm better/quicker than I am! π Darryl Watton Barney McCarthy
For those interested in supporting Tommy's in their fantastic work please check the link below. Marathon training kicking in next month - feel free to get in touch if you fancy some company whilst out jogging - I'll need to cover some miles over the next few months! ππΌ
