Running Dads!
It's the 163rd day of January! Almost there folks! π
Well that was the week that was! Nice to tackle the back end of Storms Isha and Jocelyn in tandem with Tom Sowerby.
We got pretty battered running along the exposed countryside of East Nottinghamshire. It did nothing for our hair 'styles' but boy was it fun! hashtag#running's good isn't it?!
Having recently become a father for the first time, it was utterly heart-warming to hear Tom's experiences of the first few weeks and great to reminisce myself whilst sharing Dad stories. Shout out to the Wates Group for their hashtag#progressive approach in offering extended hashtag#paternityleave. Whilst for many of us those early moments with their new-borns may pass in a blur, or now seem like a distant memory, they're so important. Come February I'm sure Tom will be refreshed, re-energised and ready to roll, with a new outlook on life, but the same inimitable charm and perhaps just one grey hair!
Alongside dabbling in hashtag#recruitment, I've also been running 'virtually' with a hardy bunch of Running Punks, playing my small part in topping up their monthly tally to almost 100,000 miles collectively as part of the Rebels Relay. I do believe that's four times around the π! Pretty awesome to be able to share that experience with people I will almost certainly never meet!
For those that do want to meet - the next big challenge is only a few months away - I'll be tackling 'The Wall' courtesy of Rat Race Adventure Sports - a 70 mile+ route from Carlisle to Gateshead along, yep you guessed it, Hadrian's Wall. My first hashtag#ultramarathon.
If you've any experience of running an ultra, or supporting those that have, or indeed have any idea why I may have decided to put myself in this predicament, please don't hesitate to get in touch. I'd love to hear your hashtag#stories and need all the training partners I can get!
Despite being just a couple of weeks before the Housing conference in Manchester I look forward to leading a group as per the annual tradition. I'll be a bit sore, but wouldn't miss it. Cheeky collab on the cards too - watch this space runners of the hashtag#housing world.
